On May 2nd at the MGM in Las Vegas a bout that many have waited years for is finally going to take place, no wonder the Mayweather vs Pacquiao fight is being hailed as the “Fight of the Century.” There’s a ridiculous amount of money involved in this one boxing match but the anticipation has been so high that fans aren’t going to think twice before paying $100 for pay per view access. You might find it hard to access Mayweather vs Pacquiao live stream sites if you want to watch for free because the crackdown has already begun.
HBO and Showtime along with the promoters of the fight have started to sue websites that were offering Mayweather vs Pacquiao live stream, illegally obviously but when has that ever stopped people?
In fact this one fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao is expected to one of the most pirated TV events in history.
Lawsuits have already been filed against websites like boxinghd.net and sportship.org which have already been advertising free access to the fight. The court has been moved to seek a preliminary injunction so that internet providers block both URLs from 8:45 p.m. on May 2nd to 6 a.m. on May 3rd.
Given the sheer viewership demand for this fight it’s obvious that these aren’t just the two websites that will try to offer free streaming, there will certainly be others, and with just a couple of days to go its unlikely that HBO, Showtime and the promoters will be able to score an injunction against all of them.
