It’s not like there’s any shortage of content for music lovers on Instagram. Most of their favorite artists are likely to be on Instagram anyway, and besides there are lots of entertainment outlets that regularly post updates related to what’s new in the world of music. Instagram wants in on the fun as well. Today it has launched a new account that’s dedicated to all things music.
Simply called @music, the dedicated Instagram account will show a “different side” of popular and emerging artists on the network. Posts made by this account will include photos, lyrics and videos that explore the world of music as well as the artists behind it.
The account will focus equally on unsigned acts and global music superstars so there will surely be something for everyone, it will be updated six times per week.
Instagram CEO Kevin Systrom himself announced this new dedicated account through a blog post, he writes that this is an effort to highlight “music photographers, album illustrators, instrument makers and, of course, fans” as well.
The first post on the dedicated @music account has already gone live on Instagram, it features Roots drummer Questlove who talks about his method to get the crowd going.
