It looks like today is a day of revelation for Star Wars fans, especially since many people are looking forward to Star Wars 7: The Force Awakens being released at the end of the year. We have seen how the BB-8 rolling droid endear itself further to the masses earlier this morning, and here we are with word that the very first planet from the upcoming movie has been named. And no, it does not rhyme with Tatooine.
Thanks to director J.J. Abrams for the reveal, yet another desert-like planet has been named, where it will play quite a role in Star Wars 7: The Force Awakens. When it was first spotted in production photos, many people would have naturally thought of the original desert planet, Tatooine, but apparently, the arid planet has been confirmed to be called Jakku. As for the shooting location here on earth, everyone remained grounded in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.
Abrams has declined to provide additional information concerning the planet when asked, although he did placate the masses by saying, “I promise you you’ll see more today.” We do hope that the upcoming reveals will not disappoint at all, but rather, be the start of a new and solid trilogy.
