Early last year, T-Mobile announced that they would be bringing the Windows Phone 8.1 update to handsets such as the Lumia 521 and the Lumia 925. However if you’re wondering if there might be other Windows Phone handsets in T-Mobile’s stable that might eventually get updated to Windows Phone 8.1, you will be disappointed to learn that there aren’t.According to a recent tweet by T-Mobile, the carrier has announced that apart from these two handsets, no other Windows Phone handset in its portfolio at the moment will be seeing the Windows Phone 8.1 update. The carrier wrote, “We have no plans to release a Windows Phone 8.1 update on devices other than the Lumia 521 and Lumia 925 at this time.”
It is unclear as to why T-Mobile has only chosen these particular two handsets to receive the Windows Phone 8.1 update, so if you don’t own either of these devices and you want the Windows Phone 8.1 update from T-Mobile, we guess you’d be out of luck. Some customers have asked T-Mobile if this also means that the Lumia 521 and Lumia 925 will be seeing the Windows 10 update upon its release.
However in a reply from the carrier, it seems that the Windows 10 update is still kind of murky at the moment, but hopefully the carrier will not be abandoning both of these phones as from what we can tell, the Windows 10 update is set to be a rather exciting one.
