The virtual reality experience to date seems like a rather private experience, especially since it is only the wearer of the virtual reality headset that gets to experience what it’s like. However a recent Kickstarter project for a device called Immersis is hoping to bring the virtual reality experience to more than one person at a time.
The project is by a company called Catopsys and they have created a virtual reality projector that will be able to connect to your computer and beam content in 180 degrees in pretty much any room. This is thanks to the technology that allows it to adapt an image to fit the size and shape of the room it is in.
However there is a downside and that is that users must first provide a 3D model of the room they are planning to use Immersis in. What this means is that it essentially makes Immersis not very accessible to the average user who might not be familiar with 3D modeling so it is safe to say that maybe it is not targeted at the average consumer.
Perhaps it could be used by companies with the know-how or resources to help create special exhibits or special screening events for virtual reality. We reckon it could be used by property developers who can use the technology in their showrooms to show prospective clients an upcoming project. The project has since been successfully funded but you can head on over to its Kickstarter page or check out the video above for the details.
