Last month we got a fresh look at HTC Desire 626 as new photos were leaked. It was expected that the company might unveil this device at Mobile World Congress 2015 which takes place next month in Barcelona. Just last week another image of the device was leaked leading us to believe that it might be announced before MWC 2015. Today HTC formally announced the Desire 626, a mid-range handset, in Taiwan.
HTC seems to have positioned the Desire 626 to take on Motorola’s Moto G which happens to be one of the most popular mid-range smartphones available in the market today.
The HTC Desire 626 has a 5-inch display with 720×1,280 pixel resolution. Under the hood it has a 64-bit Snapdragon 410 processor from Qualcomm coupled with 1GB of RAM.
It even has a 13 megapixel rear and 5 megapixel front camera. Apart from 16GB of onboard storage the Desire 626 also has LTE and a 2,000mAh battery.
HTC has also created a version of Desire 626 that will be powered by an octacore processor from MediaTek. This particular version is expected to be sold in China only.
In Taiwan HTC’s latest smartphone will cost roughly $190. The company hasn’t said if and when Desire 626 will be released in markets across Europe and North America.
