The health industry is a growing one and a lucrative one at that, which is why it is unsurprising to see that wearable technology these days tend to focus a lot on health and fitness. We have wearables that can track the steps we take, how far we’ve run, calories burnt, and even our heart rate.
These are some of the features coming to the Apple Watch, but could Apple be interested in going beyond that? There is a possibility that they could, thanks to a recent job listing discovered by the folks at Apple Insider. The job listing calls for a “Human Factors Anthropometry Engineer/Researcher,” which for those unfamiliar is basically someone who is versed in the measurements and proportions of the human body.
It is unclear as to what Apple would want with such an engineer, but given the previous Apple hires which have also include a variety of health experts, we wouldn’t be surprised if Apple is looking to beef up their health/fitness features of their products. Recently it was reported that more hospitals have started to make use of the HealthKit framework to check up on patients.
In any case it remains to be seen as to what Apple will want/do with these experts that they have hired, but it will definitely be worth keeping an eye out for.
