It is without a doubt that the world of wearable technology is moving forward in the right direction, where there are many different kinds of devices which have been rolling out in this matter, such as smart glasses as well as smart watches. Having said that, fitness and activity tracker bands, too, have increased in popularity, and the Xiaomi Mi Band was one of them. It looks as though there is an upcoming successor to the Xiaomi Mi Band, according to Hugo Barra’s Weibo account over in China.
The Vice President of Xiaomi has posted that the team behind the original Mi Band has a major announcement right ahead of the Chinese Spring Festival, which will be happening later in February this year. It would not be too much of a surprise to hear that there is a second generation wearable arriving in due time later this year, especially when you consider that an annual refresh of hardware should be expected in this day and age if a company were to stay competitive.
Hopefully the upcoming Xiaomi Mi Band 2 (or whatever it will be called) will retain its predecessor’s features – such as a long battery life as well as features that are a no-brainer to use. I suppose it is but a matter of time before all will be revealed, so patience is key here.
