Well Facebook is looking to deal with that and has recently taken measures to ensure that won’t happen. No, this doesn’t mean Facebook will get rid of auto-play videos, but rather they will issue warnings to users about the videos they are able to play, as you can see in the image above where Facebook displays a warning that the video they’re about to watch could contain graphic content.
The message reads, “Warning — graphic video. Videos that contain graphic content can shock, offend and upset. Are you sure you want to see this?” It is unclear as to how Facebook determines whether or not the video is a violent or graphic one, but presumably this will rely on users flagging the video, after which a review will be performed, before Facebook decides that it can be shared albeit with a warning.
In a statement Facebook gave to BBC News, “In instances when people report graphic content to us that should include warnings or is not appropriate for people under the age of 18, we may add a warning for adults and prevent young people from viewing the content.”
