For those who have ever played electric or bass guitar, you know that the pickups used in both guitars are different from one another. Then there is also the issue of the thickness of the strings which will affect the sound coming from the guitar. Now if you’ve always wanted the flexibility of being able to play both guitar and bass on the same instrument, a guitar pickup called Little Thunder might be of interest to you.
The Little Thunder guitar pickup will replace a humbucker slot on your guitar and will add a bass signal to the two lowest strings of your electric guitar. What this means is that guitarists will be able to use their guitars to play the bass while being able to switch back to guitar mode in a flash and with no hassle, save for installing the humbucker in your guitar, of course.
The pickup will come with three controls – an on/off switch, a -1 or -2 octave switch, and a polyphonic switch. Of course it probably won’t have the same feel compared to playing an actual bass guitar, but if you’re trying to be a little creative in your music playing or if you suddenly need a little bit of bass, then this ought to do the trick.
Little Thunder has been launched as a Kickstarter campaign and they are trying to meet their goal of $35,000. If this is of interest to you then head on over to its Kickstarter page for the details, or you can check out the video above to see the pickup in action where it is tested by professional musicians.
