Fitbit is a company known for their fitness bands, but according to a leak last week, it was suggested that the company could be getting ready to launch a smartwatch-like device called the Fitbit Surge. Well it looks like there is now more evidence of the device’s existence, thanks to the folks at the Brookstone website who had listed the product on its page.
Interestingly enough the page for the product is still up, so we can only imagine that Fitbit will be making an announcement soon. In the meantime for those who might have missed our previous report, the Fitbit Surge will be a smartwatch-like device from the company and will offer more smartwatch-like features.
However its focus seems to be on fitness, so in a way you could think of it as a more souped up fitness band that can display incoming calls, messages, and other notifications, while at the same time affording users the same functionality of fitness bands. According to its production description, it will come with built-in GPS that tracks pace, distance, routes, and elevation.
It also has a continuous heart rate monitoring feature, eight-sensor technology that provides more accurate biometrics, and it also seems that the Surge will come with a touchscreen display, although as you can imagine it does not appear to be very big, based on the photo above.
Brookstone is charging $250 for the device although no word on when it will actually be announced, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled nonetheless. In the meantime what do you guys think? Any takers?
