A few months back Google showed off the future of Android, the next iteration is currently known as Android L and its yet to receive its official dessert inspired moniker. Soon after the software was unveiled Google released developer preview images for a couple of its Nexus devices. If you’ve been meaning to see what Android L for Galaxy S5 looks like this is your lucky day as an eight minute preview of a leaked build running on Samsung’s flagship has been published online today.
As far as the official moniker is concerned Sammobile, which published this video today, claims to have heard from sources who say it will eventually be called Android Lollipop.
The Android L for Galaxy S5 build is said to be in its early stages, carrying build number LR258J, and is actually test firmware for the SM-G900F model of the Galaxy S5. Its interesting to see how Samsung is working on this particular update which introduces something known as Material Design, while also keeping TouchWiz around. The lengthy preview shows how native applications such as Dialer, Memo, Clock and Messages among others have been designed from scratch.
Given that it is a test build after all some animations are missing and animated feedback is not being provided by all buttons and knobs. Check out the video posted above if you’re curious about how Android Lollipop is going to look and feel on the Galaxy S5, but keep in mind that many changes can be made by the time its ready for public consumption. Even Google hasn’t officially released this iteration to the public as yet.
