Google has finally made a change that many people have been asking for. If you have signed up for a Google service like Gmail or Google Docs in the past you would have noticed that the company required you to make a Google+ account as well. Some viewed this tie-in as a desperate attempt on Google’s part to increase the user base of its social network. Now though the company has finally made amends and it no longer forces new users to sign up for Google+ as well.
Granted that it never took more than a couple of seconds to get up and running on Google+ as well alongside the service that you initially wanted to sign up for, but at least now users have a choice if they want to join Google’s social network or not. Customers will certainly appreciate having the choice as opposed to those who were, for want of a better word, force-fed Google+.
As spotted by Marketing Land now when someone signs up for a Google service like Gmail, Google Docs or any another Google account they can simply click on No thanks when asked to create a Google+ profile.
Google hasn’t talked much about its social network ever since Google+ boss Vic Gundotra left the company in April. It is now widely believed that Google+ has been put on the backburner. Nevertheless, this change means that now there will be fewer signups for this social network.
