We’re sure some artists wish that instead of having to bring around pens with different colors, that there was a single pen that could offer up different colors at once? Well you have those pens that offer black, blue, green, and red, but even then that’s pretty limited. Well enter the Scribble Pen.
The Scribble Pen is a device which its creators claim is able to retain as many as 100,000 different shades of color in its memory, while at the same time being able to reproduce as many as 16 million unique colors, and yes, all of this is in a single device. How it works is that the pen will come with a built-in color sensor and a microprocessor which is used to detect colors.
For example all you’d have to do is point it at an object whose color you want to replicate and just like magic (well science, not magic) it will replicate that color for you. There will be two versions of the pen, one is an ink-based version that will come with refillable ink cartridges, and another which is a stylus version that can be used with a smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth connectivity.
So is this just a novelty or what? Well not really. According to a company spokesperson, “For the colour blind, kids, interior decorators, homeowners, teachers, artists, photographers, designers and students, the Scribble colour picker pen will make copying an exact colour, any colour from any object, an absolute breeze.”
Unfortunately the Scribble Pen or Stylus isn’t for sale yet. The creators are planning on launching a Kickstarter campaign to make it a reality in the near future, and are expecting to price the Pen for $149.95, and the Stylus for $79.95.
