Last week at WWDC 2014 Apple unveiled iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite. Both softwares will be ready for public release this fall. While the company took considerable time to explain some of the new features, it didn’t have enough time to explain all of the new features. Which is why over the past few days we have been hearing about additional features that are present in the new software. For example, this wasn’t mentioned during the keynote, but iOS 8 brings the ability to make a FaceTime audio conference call.
FaceTime audio calls are hardly anything new. However there was a limitation. There could only be two participants in the call. In iOS 8 it would be possible to add more parties to the FaceTime audio conference call.
So once a call is initiated in the conventional way the user can simply add other people and have a conference call free of charge. This works across both iOS and OS X so its not like users will be limited to their mobile devices.
On the other hand, OS X Yosemite’s iMessage capabilities get boosted by the addition of screen sharing. This feature would allow users to use built-in screen share via the Messages app through an iMessage account. According to reports this particular feature is broken in the first beta of Yosemite but should be up and running in subsequent betas.
