If Apple’s iPhones are known for one thing, it would its camera. The iPhone’s camera, so far, has been one of the better ones as far as smartphones are concerned. It might not necessarily be the best per se, but it’s up there with some of the best. Unsurprisingly Apple is not resting on their laurels because according to reports, it seems that Apple has hired Nokia’s Lumia photography chief, Ari Partinen.
Partinen has since confirmed this on his Twitter account where he mentioned that he will begin his work in June. Based on his LinkedIn profile, Partinen’s work at Nokia involved “working with image quality characterization and tuning on camera module level”. He also handled camera component production and quality control, and worked on devices like the Nokia 808 PureView and the Nokia N8.
Nokia’s handsets have also been known to be pretty decent at taking photos, with notable devices like the Nokia Lumia 1020 and the Lumia 1520 being prime examples, so safe to say that we can expect improvements in future iOS devices. We’re not sure what Partinen’s role at Apple will be, but given his background on photography and the work he has done at Nokia, presumably it will have to do with improving the cameras on Apple’s products.
Like we said Apple’s cameras have typically been pretty good, but at the same time they could always be better. We guess we’ll just have to wait and find out.
