Just in case you didn’t know, Beats Electronics has had its products designed by a company called Ammunition, who have basically stuck around with Beats ever since they started working with Monster at the beginning. However now that Apple has announced their acquisition of Beats, what does it mean for Ammunition and the future of Beats Electronics?
Well Apple has never really been one to outsource the design of their products, and we guess they will not be starting that practice with Beats Electronics either. Ammunition’s founder, Robert Brunner, has since confirmed in a post, that the task of designing future Beats products will be left to Apple, and that the transition is expected to take place over the course of the next few months.
According to Brunner, “Over the next few months, the design for Beats will transition away from Ammunition. It’s tough to step down as Chief Designer for a brand I take so much pride in, but it certainly makes it easier knowing we are handing the reigns over to one of the world’s most successful design teams.”
Apple is a company known for their product design, and is one of the ways that they separate themselves from the competition, regardless of how controversial some of their designs have been. It will be interesting to see how Apple will design future Beats headphones, and if they will be straying away from the iconic designs that Beats has been known for, and also incorporate the use of more sturdy materials, a flaw in Beats headphones that many have criticized.
What do you guys think? Is Apple taking over the design of Beats headphones for the better or worse?
