In terms of athletic wear, athletes have a bunch of them. This includes a variety of sensors to measure heart rate, calories burnt, distance run, and so on. However if you were looking for something to help stimulate your muscles and help enhance a workout session, you might be interested in the SmartMio, a wearable muscle stimulator that comes in a small package.
The design of the SmartMio features two electrodes that you can stick onto your body or target certain muscle groups, such as your abs, calves, glutes, biceps, and so on. The device is controlled via a companion app that comes with a few pre-set workouts that users can choose from and given that we have our phones on us wherever we go, this lets you use the SmartMio wherever you are, like at the gym, in the park, at home, and so on.
Now we should note that SmartMio will not give you the results if you don’t put in the effort. Much like how supplements and other fitness gadgets, it has been designed to enhance your workout, much of which will be based on your own efforts, so if you’re thinking that the SmartMio will be able to whip you into shape and give you that spectacular body without you doing anything, you might want to look elsewhere.
According to the project’s description, “SmartMio uses Electrical Muscle Stimulation (EMS), cleverly mimicking what your brain does when it transmits nerve impulses to engage your muscles during a workout.” The good news is that the SmartMio has managed to reach its funding goal (more than doubled it) but if you’d like to learn more or pledge your donation as the project still has 8 days left, hit up its Indiegogo page for the details or watch the video above.
