HP is still in the tablet business just in case you were wondering, but their offerings are far from being as numerous as the ones Samsung and Apple have made available. I guess they target a very niche market, and here we are with word that the HP Slate 8 Pro Business Tablet has arrived on their online store, which so happens to be an updated model of the HP Slate 8 Pro consumer version which rolled out late last year, and the updates made to the HP Slate 8 Pro Business Tablet happen to be minimal.
I must say, this is pretty fast considering how we just caught whiff of a HP Slate 8 Pro 7650 appear at the FCC just at the end of last week. This latest version will arrive with the latest Android 4.4 KitKat mobile operating system version instead of the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean that came with its predecessor, and we will have support for NFC wireless connectivity. The asking price? $349 a pop from the HB business site.
As for the remainder of the hardware specifications, here they are – an 8” display at 1600 x 1200 pixel resolution and a 4:3 aspect ratio, an NVIDIA Tegra 4 ARM Cortex-A15 quad-core CPU, 1GB RAM, 16GB of internal memory, a microSD memory card slot for expansion purposes, a micro HDMI port, and micro USB cable, with an 8MP shooter at the back with a 720p front-facing camera.
