Facebook, the social network giant that has a fair number of users every single day, has announced that they enjoyed a patronage of 1.01 billion mobile users on a monthly basis all the way from January through March, where that represented a 34% jump over the previous year. This is no mean feat, considering how WhatsApp has half a billion (that’s 500 million) active users on a daily basis. Of course, some might say that this is not a fair comparison since they are very different animals, but it was meant to provide a scale to refer to.
Facebook themselves made up for 17.5% of the $18 billion mobile ad market in 2013, which is an increase of 5.4% in 2012. EMarketer has hopes that this year, the mobile ad market will increase to hit the $31.45 billion mark with Facebook making up approximately 21% of that total. Mobile is the new happy hunting ground for many companies, Facebook included, where 59% of Facebook’s revenue alone came from mobile in the recently reported first quarter, now how about that?
It would be interesting to see just what Facebook is up to with their one billion plus users every single month, and how they intend to leverage on the situation in order to maximize their revenue in the long run.
