wp85Windows Phone 8.1 might be in the pipeline for a launch, with many people looking forward to it, but there is more to it than that. Apparently, there are hints of Windows Phone 8.5 coming our way – yes sir, Windows Phone 8.5. This particular snippet of information was allegedly spotted on the Windows Phone emulator, where there is an indication that secondary live tiles might not make an appearance in in Windows Phone 8.5.

The words “Windows Phone 8.5” appeared in the tooltip message, and while it is not a certainty that the secondary live tile will disappear for good, but it would most probably indicate that the API might see some changes, or at least re-written completely to pave the way for new functionality. Regardless, it does seem as though Microsoft has worked up plans to alter the start screen in Windows Phone 8.5. Apart from that, Windows Phone 8.1 would also enable developers to pick a shorter update period for their Live Tiles. At this point in time, the update seems to come into action every half an hour, but Windows Phone 8.1 will usher in a far shorter update period of every minute. Considering how Microsoft will be conducting their BUILD developer conference next month, we do hope that all will be revealed by April.
