If you’re the sort of gamer that needs to keep track of friends, achievements, and updates while on the go, Sony has recently revealed its upcoming companion app for the PlayStation 4 console. The app will make its way onto both iOS and Android and will see a launch alongside the console this November. For those who own the app for the PlayStation 3 or PS Vita, it seems that this particular app will share some similarities, such as offer up trophy information, status of friends, and give users access to the PlayStation store, allowing them to purchase games and other content. Gamers will also be able to send and receive both text and voice messages, and receive invites from other PlayStation 4 users as well.
To top things off, the app will allow the device it is being used on to act as a second screen of sorts, although this will depend largely on the title and whether it supports second screens. This means that the tablet or smartphone running the app can be used to input additional commands or activate bonus features, such as the in the Knack game where items can be created on the tablet before being pushed into the actual game. More details can be found on Sony’s PlayStation blog so be sure to check it out if this is an app you’d like to learn more about!
