Google has stepped forward to mention (according to the good people over at Electronista who actually decided to ask them) that there will be no new hardware announcements at the upcoming October 24th event, which would also mean that the highly rumored Nexus 5 device which has seen its fair share of leaks will not make an appearance then, too. When asked concerning a possible hardware release, a Google spokeswoman mentioned, “The October 24th event will not be a launch of a device or hardware, rather a mixer for consumer press to better acquaint themselves with Google Play.”
That means there will be no news or hardware launch at this particular event, so it will all be more on a relationship building experience, as well as for the consumer press to be able to rub shoulders with Google Play in order to know it more intimately. We do know that there will be “music, movies, games, and a special performance by Capital Cities.” Well, I guess for those of us who have been hankering after something a whole lot more – the Nexus 5 in particular, it is time to continue exercising the virtue of patience! After all, don’t good things come to those who wait?
