We have heard that Blizzard planned to make a World of Warcraft movie for many years now, and at one point in time, Spider Man director Sam Raimi was even attached to the movie although it fell through in the end. Now it is in the hands of Duncan Jones and Legendary Pictures and during the Legendary Pictures/Warner Bros. panel at Comic-Con, it seems that attendees were treated to a teaser video of the upcoming movie! The folks at iO9 were present during the screening and while we have yet to see the video ourselves, the description by iOS 9 reads:
The footage showcased an alien-looking landscape full of rocky outcroppings, where a sweaty unshaven figure in armor is drinking water from a leather pouch. There’s a cage with rocks in it, a squeaking noise, green lightning in the sky. The man tosses the water pouch on the ground, and draws his sword with a loud ringing sound. He takes a shield from an armored skeleton, and bangs his sword against it.
And then you see the massive arm of a… creature… heading towards him. We glimpse the green skin and some of the armor, and then finally we get an extreme closeup of the orc as it raises its axe and brings it down onto the man’s head.
It’s a bit hard to imagine all of this without seeing it for ourselves, but at the same time fans of the game should take it as a good sign that things are progressing nicely and hopefully this will result in an actual film, rather than another cancelled World of Warcraft movie. Director Duncan Jones has also announced that the movie is expected to begin filming early 2014, although the cast of the movie has yet to be revealed. So, who else is excited for this?
