Before smartphones became the new “in” thing, Sony made a name for itself in the mobile phone world by creating phones for music lovers and photography enthusiasts under the Walkman and Cybershot brand (while it was still known as Sony Ericsson). There have been rumors that Sony might be looking to do the same thing with their Android smartphones, but so far we have no seen any proof. However according to the folks at Phone Arena, they claim to have gotten a tip that suggests that Sony could be unveiling Walkman and Cybershot Xperia smartphones in Q3 2013.
Both devices are expected to be 5”, similar to the Xperia Z. The rumored Xperia Walkman will come with “top specs” and an integrated amplifier chip along with other Sony Walkman features, making this a phone for the music lover. We’ve seen portable amplifiers before, although they do cost a small fortune so hopefully Sony’s take on the music phone will be more affordable. As for the rumored Xperia Cybershot, their source claims this phone will come with a camera that is the best amongst all smartphones, and will come with a sensor size that will rival the Nokia 808 PureView, and will feature Carl Zeiss lens. It too will feature top of the line specs.
While it sounds entirely plausible, since neither of these rumors can be confirmed, we suggest you take this with a grain of salt for now, but in the meantime what do you guys think? Anyone interested in a Xperia Cybershot or Walkman Android smartphone?
