The Google Nexus Q was announced well in the middle of summer last year, but somehow, the device did not really kick off in the way that Google wanted it to (and along with it went “poof!” hopes of a Made in USA revival for consumer electronics devices), but here is a device that might just bring back memories of the Nexus Q for the few folks who used it – the Android-powered set top box by the good people over at Giayee.

Giayee’s Android-powered set top box works differently, since it allows you to run Android apps on your TV with the help of a wireless remote control. We do wonder whether the folks over at Google have something to say about the design of Giayee’s creation, especially since it looks rather similar to the discontinued Nexus Q on many fronts. You will find the Giayee IPTV box to run on a Rockchip RK3066 ARM Cortex-A9 dual-core processor, accompanied by ARM Mali 400 quad-core graphics, 802.11n Wi-Fi and Ethernet connectivity and an infrared receiver meant for the remote control, alongside 1GB RAM and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean in tow.
