Every smartphone manufacturer would need to own a flagship device – after all, it makes perfect sense for one to be able to be proud of at least one smartphone in their stable, as well as bragging rights within the industry. Having said that, Sony’s “divorce” from Ericsson seemed to have done them a whole world of good instead of bad, and Sony’s current flagship, the Xperia S, is definitely a work of beauty. Having said that, one should never rest on their laurels, which is why there are rumors floating around that Sony is already working on a new flagship phone known as the Xperia Z.
The Xperia Z looks set to be the second generation NXT series, where it will be named as follows – the Xperia Z, Xperia C, Xperia E and Xperia Y. The Xperia Z is said to be the flagship model, and is tipped for an August 2012 launch, while the rest will roll out sometime this July 2012. Perhaps it has something to do with the recent miro and tipo announcements?
Rumors also point to a Qualcomm S4 Snapdragon chipset, an OLED display and Cyber-shot camera lenses, in addition to being PlayStation Certified while carrying a Walkman music player. Forget about what I said in the previous paragraph then, as that would rule out the miro and tipo smartphones.
