Craigslist advertisements do list some rather snazzy items from time to time, and the latest “crazy” item would be the TIE Fighter from Star Wars. I guess the asking price of $150 reflects the frailty of the spacecraft – it is no wonder then that the Rebels were able to brush aside squadron after squadron of TIE Fighters through many skirmishes. This replica model will feature laser cannons, but it is unable to charge its way into enemy territory and shoot down barricades, but rather, fire only party poppers. According to the Craigslist ad, it claims to be ‘the coolest toy in your neighbourhood’.
One third the size of the original TIE Fighter, it measures eight-feet wide and eight-feet high. Other features of this grounded Imperial spacecraft include wheeled casters that make it easier to transport, while the cockpit is easy to access, offering enough space to hold a single pilot. Hopefully the aim of this pilot will be far more accurate than what we see in the movies.
