While some people are willing to pay ridiculous amounts of money for an advanced copy of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, it looks like some folks in France thought so too. Though unlike the rest of us who will wait (one more day) for the game to be officially released, they decided to rob a truck full of video games instead. On Saturday morning in Créteil, south Paris, two masked men used a car to collide with the aforementioned truck and used tear gas to neutralize the drivers and steal the truck with a video game shipment said to be worth 400,000 Euros ($550,363). Inside the truck was Modern Warfare 3 – an estimated 6,000 copies of the game.
While we’re pretty sure it wasn’t the sole intention of the robbers to steal the truck just to get their hands on Modern Warfare 3, it makes me think about how far some people are willing to go just to get video games. These games should be on sale illegally now, though if you manage to get your hands on an advanced copy – playing the game early could get you banned. Modern Warfare 3 comes out tomorrow – who’s picking it up?
