It took awhile, but the official Facebook Messenger app that made its debut on iOS and Android devices, has finally made its way over to the BlackBerry operating system. In case you forgot, Facebook Messenger is a standalone app that was released a couple of months ago for Facebook users to easily send and receive messages to and from their Facebook friends without having to launch the official app.
It works pretty much like an IM client, with the additional feature of being able to deliver offline messages as SMS messages (if that person has registered a phone number to their account). This also means that users will be able to send text messages to each other without even needing their cellphone number. It automatically syncs with your Facebook account so you can start chatting on your phone and continue later on your computer, and vice versa.
Head here to download the app for your BlackBerry device, or read up more about it on the official Facebook blog.
