Rapper Lil Wayne is never too far away from the limelight ever since he made it big just before the turn of the century, and I must say that this is one heavily tattoed rapper – with a rockin’ bod to boot! Well, having been in the ‘game’ like forever now, Lil Wayne’s 10th studio album actually managed to break the iTunes album sales record – achieving 345,000 copies thereabouts in just four days. Compare that to the 964,000 figure that Nielsen SoundScan compiled in a week, and you have a more than decent album (Tha Carter IV) flying off store shelves.
According to his manager Birdman, who is co-founder of Cash Money Records, “We work for the people and we appreciate the love they give us back”. This is certainly good news for the father of four, who recently made a successful comeback after being sentenced to a year in jail for illegal possession of a weapon. Of course, on good behavior, he was released 4 months earlier.
Are you a Lil Wayne fan, and did you contribute to his record breaking performance on iTunes? If you answered in the affirmative for both questions, then give yourself a pat on the back – you thoroughly deserve it.
