If weekly weather predictions aren’t enough for you and you want to look further ahead, say months or even up to a year in advance – the local news won’t cut it sometimes. Weather Trends International (WTI) has heard your cries and has just launched a new website and app for iPhone customers. Called WeatherTrends360 (I wonder why it isn’t called WeatherTrends365 instead), it lets users check out the weather of any location in the world – for up to a year ahead. Kinda hard to believe, especially when supercomputers right now are already having trouble predicting the weather 3 days ahead. WTI claims to be able to do it with a math-based statistical forecasting methodology.
Previously only available to large clients such as Wal-Mart, Coca-Cola, Target and Johnson & Johnson, WeatherTrends360 is now available to anybody with an internet connection of an iPhone. With 80%+ accuracy, and an all-star clientele, they’ve got the credentials to back them up. If the service works as claimed, it will let users plan the perfect wedding, picnic or end of year outdoor BBQ months in advance. This service gives a minimum and maximum temperature of the selected day, with a graphical indication of what the weather will be like as well (sunny, rainy, snowy etc).
At the moment it’s predicted “Severe T-Storms” for the next two days where I live, so I’ll let you know if it’s accurate or not. If you’d like to give the service a shot check it out here, or download the app for your iPhone now ($0.99). An iPad and an Android version is also in the works. Let us know what you think about the service, if you’ve used it before.
