If it’s not all-in-one PCs, or ultrathin laptops, the next trendiest form factor for computers have got to be rugged notebook computers. General Dynamics Itronix has just introduced the GD8200 – a fully-rugged notebook computer that’s been built to last in any sort of condition. Tested in 32 rigorous ways, the GD8200 has been “cooked, frozen, dropped, shaken” and “soaked”. Unsurprisingly, the notebook managed to pass all the tests without breaking sweat.
In addition to being able to take a beating, the GD8200 is loaded with high-end specs that should have no problems running whatever apps you need to work with. It packs an Intel Core i7-2655LE vPro mobile processor, 2GB SDRAM (expandable to 8GB), 500GB/750GB HDD with heater, 500GB hybrid HDD with heater, 120GB/256GB SSD, Shock-mounted flex-connect, a 13.3″ 1024 x 768 XGA LED-backlit touchscreen LCD with new sunlight-viewable DynaVue II technology, Ethernet LAN, 4G LTE support, GPS, Bluetooth 2.1 and some optional security features.
The tablet is MIL-STD-810G certified (48” drop, shock, vibration, blowing rain, sand and dust, water pressure, drip exposure, altitude, freeze/thaw, high/low temperature, temperature shock, humidity, explosive atmosphere, salt fog, contamination by fluids, solar radiation, fungus, acoustic noise, acidic atmosphere, gunfire shock), as well as MIL-STD-461F and IP65 Certified.
The General Dynamics Itronix GD8200 is available now with prices starting from $4460. Find out more.
